'Worst decision of all time', 'That's the end for him' - Tottenham fans react after Poch axes senior pair
By Harry Sykes
Erik Lamela and Vincent Janssen have been omitted from Tottenham’s Champions League squad – and fans have taken to Twitter to express their confusion.
Uefa’s official website announced Spurs’ squad on Monday afternoon after it was submitted last Friday in the wake of the closure of the summer transfer window.
Intriguingly, Tottenham have named just a 21-man squad and it does not include senior attackers Lamela and Janssen.
Lamela is working his way back from a long-standing hip injury but Janssen is fully fit and started for Holland in their 3-1 World Cup qualifier win against Bulgaria on Sunday evening.
Spurs fans have taken to social media to deliver their verdicts on the omission of the pair, with many particularly vocal about the absence of striker Janssen.

Why would Spurs not register Lamela and Janssen in the CL squad when we have 4 spots available in the squad? Strange

Looks like Tottenham won’t even win a match. No lamela may be the worst decision of all time https://t.co/kkJuYsYoN9

I’m assuming Lamela being left out means he’s going to be out injured longer than we think!

understand Lamela being left out as no1 knows when back, but no Janssen must mean that’s the end of him at Spurs? https://t.co/bfSDLMQtm0

Argentina international Lamela has been out for almost 11 months with injuries to both hips and has only recently begun outdoor training as part of his recovery.
Janssen was involved in transfer deadline day negotiations over a move to Premier League new boys Brighton, but the deal did not end up coming off after the player pulled the plug last minute.
The Holland striker misses out as manager Mauricio Pochettino names three forwards in Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son and new signing Fernando Llorente.
The likes of Harry Winks and Kyle Walker-Peters are also not included in the club’s Champions League squad, but are likely to be on the B list of younger players, which is to be confirmed closer to the start of the group stages.
Spurs will play Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Apoel Nicosia in the group stages over the coming months.
