Tottenham have confirmed that Christian Eriksen has signed a new four-year deal, and Spurs supporters are delighted one of their star players has extended his stay at the club.

The north London side revealed on their official Twitter account on Tuesday afternoon that the 24-year-old had agreed new terms at the club.

Tottenham’s number 23 had less than two years remaining on his former deal after moving from Ajax in the summer of 2013 for a £12million fee.

Spurs supporters are overjoyed that one of their key players has agreed new terms and some are hoping he can recapture his form after a slow start to the new campaign.

Eriksen has starred in 134 appearances for the club during his three-year stay in north London.

He has started all three of Spurs’ opening matches of the new campaign, but Tottenham have started slowly picking up just one win and two draws in their first fixtures.

Eriksen also faces increased competition for his place in the side after the additions of Moussa Sissoko and Georges-Kevin N’Koudou, with Dele Alli, Erik Lamela and Son-Heung Min also vying for a place in the starting eleven.

In other Tottenham team news, Spurs have been handed a boost by midfielder Victor Wanyama after his national side failed to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations.
