Tottenham are reportedly lining up a move for Swansea defender Alfie Mawson – and the club’s supporters have reacted positively to the interest on Twitter.
The Sun have claimed that Spurs are weighing up a £15million bid for the centre-back this summer and that Mauricio Pochettino has already been in contact with the Premier League side.
The report details that the north London club view the 23-year-old as a strong addition to their backline and feel he can become a long-term starter in the future.
Mawson has just one season under his belt in the top flight and experienced that last year following his move to Swansea from Barnsley.
Spurs fans have backed a move for the England Under-21 international despite his lack of experience and feel that he is a great exciting talent.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Alfie Mawson suits our club profile perfectly. Young, English, someone on the brink of realising their potential. Sign him up! #THFC

If Big Kev leaves Alfie or Ben Gibson would be great pick ups.

Wimmer wants out and we can still buy other players, Mawson would be a very good signing

Mawson is currently competing for England at the Under-21s European Championships and completed 90 minutes in the opening group game against Sweden.
The powerful centre-back is recognised for his dominance in the air and also his ability in possession.
He also has an eye for goal and the defender netted four goals in 27 appearances for the Swans last year.
Spurs already have several centre-back options at their disposal and Pochettino’s side had the best defensive record in the top flight last season.
Mawson would be competing alongside the likes of Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier if he moved to Spurs.
In other Tottenham transfer news, the club’s 24-year-old is being eyed by a Premier League rival.
