Tottenham fans have taken to social media to voice their confusion and bewilderment at the report that former midfielder Paulinho is on the verge of a move to German giants Bayern Munich.

Brazilian sports news outlet Globoesporte claim on their website that the Brazilian’s manager is in talks to secure a move from Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande this summer.

Spurs fans were left bemused at the news, with the now 28-year-old named by fans as the worst player in the club’s history in a survey conducted by FourFourTwo magazine.

They took to social media to question the news, with many wondering if it was a joke.

Meanwhile some fans were predicting a happy return to North London for the player.

Paulinho has enjoyed an impressive two-year stint in Asia which has seen him win two Chinese league titles, two Chinese Super Cups, one Chinese Cup and one AFC Champions League.

He did not enjoy such success at White Hart Lane however, after joining from Brazilian club Corinthians for just under £17m in 2013, making 45 league appearances and scoring six goals for Tottenham.

He has made 52 appearances for Guangzhou, scoring 12 goals, while also making 39 appearances for his country, netting nine times.

In other Tottenham transfer news, this Pochettino target seems to have committed his future to his club.
