Young guns Filip Lesniak and Samuel Shashoua are reportedly in the Tottenham squad for their Premier League clash against Leicester – and fans have mostly reacted with delight to their selections.
The unofficial Tottenham academy account reported on Twitter on the morning of the match that central midfielder Lesniak and attacking midfielder Shashoua have been promoted by manager Mauricio Pochettino into the matchday 18 for the fixture at the King Power Stadium on Thursday night.
The account claimed it had learned from its sources that Slovakian Lesniak, 21, and Londoner Shashoua, 18, are in the Spurs travelling party and will take their places in the senior squad for the first time.
I’m told Filip Lesniak & Sam Shashoua are in the squad for today’s game.

Neither of the youngsters has made a senior appearance for Spurs and their apparent call-ups represent something of a shock even though eight players are unavailable and the team have already secured second position in this season’s Premier League.
Tottenham fans are enthused about the club selecting the youngsters to play a Premier League fixture, although some expressed disappointment that the highly-rated young playmaker Marcus Edwards and striker Kazaiah Sterling have not been promoted.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

@Lee88Jay 15 odd goals and a fair few assists in the youth teams this season from attacking mid. Looks a good prospect. Lesniak is an odd one though.

Pochettino has fast-tracked the youthful duo as a result of an end-of-season availability crisis.
Senior full-back duo Kyle Walker (ankle) and Kieran Trippier (concussion) join long-term absentees Danny Rose, Erik Lamela and Harry Winks on the sidelines, while youngsters Josh Onomah, Kyle Walker-Peters and Cameron Carter-Vickers, who might have expected to have been given a chance against Leicester, are all at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup.
In other Tottenham team news, the club have opened shock talks to sign a Barcelona icon who has had a storming season.
