Tottenham fans react on Twitter as playmaker ruled out until mid-December

By Will Butcher

Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to express their dismay after wonderkid Marcus Edwards was ruled out for up to seven weeks.

The 17-year-old playmaker made his senior debut for the North London outfit against Gillingham this season, coming on in the 75th minute against the Gills during Spurs 5-0 EFL Cup win.

However, Edwards suffered an ankle injury last week that is expected to keep him out until the busy Christmas period after he was sidelined for Tottenham’s UEFA Youth League clash against Bayer Leverkusen.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino revealed news of Edwards’ twisted ankle while speaking ahead of Spurs’ fourth round EFL Cup tie against Premier League rivals Liverpool.

Tottenham fans have reacted on Twitter by wishing their young starlet the best of luck during his recovery, with some saddened that he will be unable to feature against Liverpool on Tuesday night.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

With Moussa Sissoko set to be sidelined for three matches after the FA revealed they will be charging the winger for an elbow on Bournemouth’s Harry Arter, Edwards was likely to be given a chance against Liverpool.

However, the attacking midfielder will now be made to wait for his next chance as he begins his recovery.
