Tottenham fans react on Twitter to N'Koudou display against Wycombe

By Harry Sykes

Georges-Kevin N’Koudou was handed only his second start for Tottenham in their 4-3 FA Cup win against Wycombe on Saturday – and fans delivered mixed verdicts on Twitter after he was hauled off at half-time.

N’Koudou was handed his 12th appearance – 10 of which have been as a substitute – of what has been a difficult debut season at White Hart Lane.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino made nine changes to the Spurs side that drew against Manchester City in the Premier League last weekend and his side faced a shock cup exit at the hands of the fourth-tier side after going into the half-time break 2-0 down.

Pochettino reacted by hauling off winger N’Koudou at half-time and replacing him with striker Vincent Janssen, who had been omitted from the team despite the unavailability of the injured Harry Kane.

Son Heung-Min pulled one back for Spurs early in the second half before Janssen won and then converted a penalty.

The match eventually finished 4-3 as late strikes from Dele Alli and an own goal enabled Spurs to secure a berth in the fourth round of the competition.

Supporters either panned the France Under-21 international for his first-half performance or questioned why he had been withdrawn ahead of Josh Onomah.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

N’Koudou joined Spurs for around £11million from Marseille last summer following a protracted transfer.

But he has struggled to make an impression in Pochettino’s squad and has found himself behind the likes of Son, Christian Eriksen, Moussa Sissoko and the injured Eric Lamela in the pecking order for wide roles.
