'Are you mad?' - Tottenham fans react to speculation about extraordinary £50m swoop
By Matt Farr
Manchester City are confident of signing Danny Rose from Tottenham this summer – but fans on Twitter have issued a hands-off warning.
The Mirror reported on Sunday morning that Pep Guardiola was ready to pay an extraordinary £50million for the 26-year-old Tottenham ace in a bid to solve the club’s full back problems.
It was also claimed that Tottenham would seek out a move for Manchester United outcast Luke Shaw as a replacement for Rose, should he leave to join the two-time Premier League champions.
But Tottenham fans on Twitter appear rather disenchanted at the prospect of swapping Rose for Shaw, with the Spurs defender earning widespread praise from the White Hart Lane faithful this season.
Rose has thrived in an attacking full back role under Mauricio Pochettino, contributing two goals and four assists from 21 appearances this season.

However, despite a few voices that would welcome Shaw to the club, the majority of fans do not think that the former Southampton man can perform as well as Rose in his role.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Luke Shaw isn't half the player Danny Rose is, but is still young and has shown what he can do. For 50 mil, hard to turn down

I love Rose (26) as much as anyone BUT if we can get Shaw (21) and profit by 25m+ you have to consider that good business

Tottenham fans, however, will be reasonably assured that Rose will remain at the club this summer, after the player signed a new long term deal.
The contract extension should see the England international remain at the club until the summer of 2021.
Shaw, meanwhile, has just over a year to left on his current deal at Old Trafford.
