Tottenham fans react on Twitter as Sturridge set to start ahead of Kane
By Emma Sanders
Daniel Sturridge is set to start for England in their World Cup qualifier against Scotland on Friday evening and Tottenham fans reacted with relief to the news on Twitter.
Harry Kane may have to sit on the bench as reports in the Daily Mail claim Sturridge will be given the nod ahead of the Spurs striker who has only just returned from injury.
The 23 year-old was out of action for two months after he picked up ankle ligament damage during his side’s 1-0 victory against Sunderland in September.
He returned to the frame during Tottenham’s 1-1 draw against Arsenal on Sunday and scored a penalty in the second-half to equalise in the north London derby.
Kane missed England last two games in October and Sturridge started, scoring during England’s 2-0 victory against Malta. and recording 82 minutes against Slovenia.

However, Sturridge has struggled to get into the Liverpool starting XI this season and there has been plenty of discussion on whether Kane should be given an opportunity to make a comeback.
Tottenham fans were relieved to hear their star man is not expected to be risked at Wembley on Friday though, as they have seen their side slip down into fifth place in the Premier League table in his absence.
Here is a selection of the messages on Twitter:
I'm annoyed kane is even there. If Sturridge starts I think he'll take Scotland apart.

Sturridge set to start? So Kane's not fit so what's the point in calling him up. And starting a player who can't even get in his clubs team
