Tottenham fans have been stunned by 16-year-old Mikey Moore after he scored in the club's opening pre-season clash with Hearts.

Ange Postecoglou's side ran out 5-1 winners with Brennan Johnson, Djed Spence and fellow youngster Will Lankshear getting on the scoresheet alongside an own goal.

Moore has been subject to plenty of talk this summer given his contract situation, and displays like that will only attract further attention.

The winger is still not eligible to sign his first professional deal as FA rules state he must be 17, with his birthday on 11 August.

However, many at Spurs are confident he will remain their player beyond this summer as the club are pulling out all of the stops to keep him.

Tottenham fans stunned by 'special' Mikey Moore after pre-season footage emerges

Moore joined Tottenham’s academy aged eight and has now become a regular fixture of both the under-18s and under-21s sides at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

He also has two senior appearances to his name despite his age, becoming the club’s youngest-ever Premier League player.

Fans were amazed by his performance against Hearts alongside the first team despite his age, with one going as far as to label him "the next Messi".

There were also inevitable comparisons drawn to Spain's Euro 2024 star Lamine Yamal who turned 17 days before Spain lifted the trophy.
