Tottenham fans have taken to social media to tear into the performance of midfield star Christian Eriksen after disappointing against Huddersfield on Saturday.

The Danish international returned to the starting XI after missing the club’s midweek Champions League clash against Apoel Nicosia through illness.

However he failed to have an meaningful impact during the 4-0 win away at the John Smith’s Stadium, as Harry Kane scored twice, while Ben Davies and Moussa Sissoko also found themselves on the scoresheet.

As a result, fans were left fuming on Twitter about his lack of involvement, with a couple highlighting that he still seemed to be struggling with his illness.

The 25-year-old has started all seven of Tottenham’s Premier League games this season, with two goals and three assists to his name already.

The attacking midfielder is carrying on his fine form from the last campaign, which saw him 12 goals and 23 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions.

The 71-time-capped Denmark international will have a chance to add to his caps over the next two weeks, with his country set to face off against Montenegro and Romania as they look to secure a qualification spot for the World Cup in 2018.

Tottenham will be hoping he comes back at full fitness, with a clash against Bournemouth coming before a visit to Real Madrid in the Champions League.
