Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to tear into Christian Eriksen for his performance against Arsenal on Saturday.

Eriksen, 25, was nowhere to be seen as Spurs fell to a disappointing 2-0 defeat in the first North London derby of the season at the Emirates.

First-half goals from Shkodran Mustafi and Alexis Sanchez gave the Gunners the derby day bragging rights as Spurs slumped to what was arguably one of their worst displays of the season.

A number of star players had poor outings, leading Mauricio Pochettino to pull the trigger on Dele Alli and Harry Kane in the 75th minute as he looked to make drastic changes to his underperforming squad.

However it was Denmark international Eriksen who was on the receiving end of some very harsh criticism from fans on Twitter, with one saying that the playmaker was "garbage".

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Eriksen has been a mainstay of the Tottenham starting line-up this season, making 16 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and supplying four assists in the process.

He would have no doubt gone into the North London derby high on confidence having played a major part in Denmark's qualification to the World Cup earlier this week after scoring a hat-trick in a 5-1 win against the Republic of Ireland.
