Tottenham handed 'huge' Son boost after journalist's pre-Chelsea update - pundit

Heung-min Son’s potential return to action against Chelsea is a “big boost” for Tottenham, according to Danny Mills.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Man City and England full-back insisted Son’s impact on and off the pitch is immeasurable for Spurs.

The South Korea captain has not featured for Tottenham since suffering a calf injury on international duty earlier this month.

His absence has been keenly felt by Nuno Espirito Santo’s side who have failed to win in their previous two games.

The Telegraph’s Matt Law reported on September 15 Son has not given up hope of returning for Sunday’s game against London rivals Chelsea.

Nuno told the press the same day that Son was “improving day by day” and would be assessed ahead of Sunday’s game.

“It would be a huge boost,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“He’s a fantastic player, his energy is magnificent. He’s absolutely superb in what he does. He adds so much to the team and that’s what they miss.

“As much as he’s got quality, energy and professionalism. There is so much more about him than being a good player.”

Son missed just one Premier League game last season as he scored 17 times and provided 10 assists.

The 29-year-old has already found the net twice in three top-flight appearances this term.

He penned a new contract with the north London club over the summer that will keep him there until the summer of 2025.
