Tottenham 'have to trust Paratici on this one' as source reveals signing all but done - Whelan
Noel Whelan has insisted Tottenham “have to trust” Fabio Paratici in the transfer market as Takehiro Tomiyasu finalises his move.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds United striker is excited by the potential arrival of Tomiyasu as he believes the 22-year-old will have been watched extensively by Paratici.
Spurs are in the market for two senior centre-halves in this window, while the futures of Davinson Sanchez and Toby Alderweireld are uncertain.
Football Insider revealed on July 16th that Tottenham expect to complete the signing of Tomiyasu from Bologna this month and the latest from a Spurs source is the deal is all but done.
The Japan international, who has three years remaining on his contract in Italy, has his heart set on a move to north London.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are yet to make a signing in this window.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of the latest, Whelan said: “You have to trust Paratici on this one.
“He will have watched a lot of Tomiyasu during his time in Italy. I’m sure he has kept very close tabs on him. He is clearly a defender that he admires a lot. I think he would have made a move for him whichever club he was at.
“It is important that Spurs fans trust the process now. They have got a director of football in place now so things will work slightly differently moving forward.
“Defensively, Spurs really struggled last season. They were terrible really. There was no continuity at centre-half.
“It is an area that needs to be improved so hopefully Tomiyasu is a step in the right direction.”
