Sources: Tottenham target Pierco Hincapie agrees deal after Fabio Paratici talks

Tottenham target Piero Hincapie has agreed a new Bayer Leverkusen contract, sources have told Football Insider.

The Ecuador centre-back, 20, has attracted the interest of the Premier League elite after impressing in the Bundesliga.

It is believed Spurs managing director Fabio Paratici has made contact contact with the player’s camp over a potential deal for Hincapie, while Arsenal have also been linked with him.

Bayer are well aware of the growing interest in their rising star and have moved to fend off suitors.

It is believed that Hincapie has reached an agreement in principle over a new and improved contract following a breakthrough in talks.

He could put pen to paper on the deal imminently.

That will be a blow to Spurs and other keen clubs, but is unlikely to dilute their interest in the central defender.

Hincapie has a growing reputation on the back of his performances for club and country, especially since joining Leverkusen in the summer of 2021 for a fee of around £6million from Argentine club Atletico Talleres.

He made 20 Bundesliga starts among 33 appearances in all competitions during an impressive debut season for Leverkusen.

That included five Europa League starts as the club made the last 16 of the competition.

Hincapie has emerged as a regular starter this season, with starts in seven Bundesliga and Champions League matches out of nine appearances in all competitions.

He has demonstrated his versatility by slotting in at both left-back and centre-back.
