Tottenham youngster Dennis Cirkin faces a major battle play again this season in a fresh blow to Jose Mourinho.
The Spurs manager is already without his two star forwards and arguably most important players, Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min.
Now rising star Cirkin, 17, has revealed on his personal social media account he has sustained a serious injury to his left foot.
The left-back uploaded an image on Snapchat earlier today that showed his followers his left foot is in a protective boot.
Cirkin did not divulge details of the injury but his message, “back to square one again”, made it clear it is a major one.
It comes at a time when the teenager was making rapid strides in his development at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Cirkin has made the first team squad for two matches in the last month, FA Cup ties against Middlesbrough and Southampton.
He was an unused substitute in both games, for which Mourinho fielded strong teams as Spurs progressed to the fifth round of the competition.
Cirkin,a defender who can play at centre-back but is principally a left-back, has been a regular for the Spurs Under-18s this season but made the quick leap to the senior squad after barely any Under-23s football, which is unusual.

He signed his first professional contract in November, seven months after he turned 17.
Tottenham are already without key men Kane and Son, with Mourinho revealing at his media conference earlier today he hopes they will be fit to play again together in this campaign.
