Tottenham have held talks over securing a summer swoop for Turkish international playmaker Yusuf Yazici, according to a report.
Turkish football news website Sporx claim that Spurs have made an approach and are readying an official offer for the 20-year-old, after impressing for current club Trabzonspor over the past couple of seasons.
He has turned out 13 times for the club this season, having a total of 44 appearances under his belt for the Super Lig side at which he came through the youth ranks, and as scored 10 goals and chipped in with 15 assists.
Contracted at Trabzonspor until 2022, it is said a worthwhile offer from Tottenham would see the 4-time-capped Turkey international join up with manager Mauricio Pochettino and his side in the summer of 2018.
Football Insider verdict
There is a lot made over the fact Pochettino and Spurs are looking to snap up some of the brightest young talent, and it is exciting that they are looking to the future. However what Tottenham really need is proven talent to help them push on and keep pace with the front runners in the Premier League, something which has not happened this season. You see the opposition strengthening with players who know the league and have already demonstrated their talents, but Spurs are looking to get value for money and penny pinch from overseas. It might work for one or two, but it is not the way to secure guaranteed success. Another attacking midfielder? Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen might have something to say about that – if they are still at the club.
In other Tottenham transfer news, Joey Barton has claimed this summer deal will prove disastrous for the club’s future.
