Everton transfer expert drops Richarlison return verdict after what he's spotted

Richarlison would be a negative influence in the Everton dressing room if he returns to the club from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

That is the opinion of former senior Everton and Tottenham scout, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.

There has been talk of the 29-year-old returning to Merseyside this summer, after he left for North London in 2022.

Richarlison has just one year remaining on his contract and would likely be available for a reasonable fee, as Tottenham look to free up space in the squad for their swarm of incomings.

Thierno Barry has started the season in sensational form, but will need support if Beto is to leave the club in the final days of the window.

The 28-year-old also has just one year remaining on his contract and is said to be attracting interest from clubs in the Serie A.

Richarlison is not a 'club man'

Richarlison was a fan favourite during his time at Everton, and he continues to be beloved on Merseyside.

The Brazil international joined the Toffees in 2018 and would go on to score 53 goals in 152 games before making the £60million move to Tottenham.

He has never quite reached the same heights in North London, but scored 12 goals and provided five assists across all competitions in what was a torrid campaign for the Lilywhites last season.

"You can't keep bringing in players and not get rid of some. I mean, what about Richarlison? He seems to be surplus to requirements," King told Football Insider. 

"Never rated him anyway. Good luck with that [a return to Everton]. I wouldn't entertain that at all. If you're going to bring a player in like that, he's got to be performing on the pitch and scoring goals regularly.

"And he just never strikes me as a club man. You know, he never looks a bundle of fun, does he? He's always got that miserable look on his face. No, if I'd have been Tottenham, I'd have got rid of him last year."

Beto exit likely after Preston North End scenes

While Beto's exit is yet to be confirmed, with no agreement close with any club, it appears to be an inevitability.

According to Patrick Boyland, the striker went over to the Everton fans after Wednesday's game against Preston North End to share a potentially parting moment.

But before Beto can go anywhere, the Toffees must have a deal lined up for his replacement.

Despite Barry's encouraging form, it would be unforgivable to end the window without having signed his competition.
