Ex-Tottenham scout backs 'very good player' to be Spurs' saviour
Mohammed Kudus could be the difference maker needed to get Tottenham Hotspur out of their current rut.
That is the opinion of former senior Tottenham scout, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.
The 26-year-old has finally returned from injury for the Lilywhites and was one of few rays of light as they were beaten 3-2 by Aston Villa last week.
Kudus joined Tottenham from West Ham last summer in a £55million deal, but was missing from action for over six months after dealing with a significant hamstring injury.
The Ghana international is one of several players Roberto De Zerbi is keen to see return to full flight in the coming weeks, as he attempts to change his team's fortunes and prolong his tenure.
James Maddison has also returned, while Dejan Kulusevski and Pedro Porro are still dealing with persisting issues.
Mohammed Kudus 'brought energy into the side'
Kudus thought he had scored Tottenham's first Premier League goal of the season and put them on a path to potential points when he put the ball into the net on Saturday.
Andy Robertson had been offside and the goal was ruled out, but the winger was not put off.
He claimed a superb assist for Conor Gallagher's late goal, completed five successful dribbles, was fouled twice, made five recoveries and won nine duels.
"Kudus is a good player. He went to Ajax for £8m. He left Ajax for West Ham for £38m, and he's then moved on for £55m," King told Football Insider.
"He's a good player. Not as an out-and-out centre-forward, but as a wide player with pace, he certainly is. He's a very good player to have come back into the team, that's for sure.
"It showed at the weekend, it seemed to bring a bit more energy into the side because Spurs, at times, didn't look too bad, but they've got this habit of conceding goals.
"When they were 3-0 down, they started to play a bit. And it got interesting at 3-2, but another defeat means that they've certainly got to start putting stuff together. I know we're only talking five games but there's 15 points available there and they've got two."
Kudus primed for Tottenham impact
Kudus was called up for Ghana this week, but has pulled out as he attempts to return to full fitness at Tottenham.
That will be music to De Zerbi's ears, with the winger expected to be key to any recovery in North London over the coming months.
The Italian will now have over two weeks to prepare Kudus for the returning clash against Manchester United, which will be key.
The former Ajax man will hope to provide a defining intervention for Tottenham, justifying the huge fee paid for him last summer.
