Tottenham hierarchy 'very concerned' as exit clause triggered: 'It's a worrying sign...'
Tottenham Hotspur should be hugely concerned about more sponsors pulling out of their deals after Sidiz opted to walk away from the club.
That is according to former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes that the alarm bells should be ringing for the Lilywhites' hierarchy.
This comes after the news that the Korean furniture manufacturer have triggered an exit clause to terminate their deal with the club at the end of October.
Wyness made it clear that the fact Spurs have been forced to include clauses of this nature to secure sponsorship deals is "very worrying" for them.
Sidiz opted to pull out of their agreement due to the team's poor start to the new Premier League season, as they sit bottom of the table at the first international break.
Wyness feels that the club should be concerned about more of their partners potentially following suit, and outlined that it is a major wake-up call for the board.
Tottenham facing another 'big storm cloud'
Everton’s former chief Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that the Sidiz termination represents another "big storm cloud" for Tottenham.
The Scottish businessman feels that the club could potentially face more issues later down the line if the team's performance on the pitch doesn't improve.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, Wyness explained why the situation has very negative connotations for Spurs.
"This is very concerning for Spurs. The very fact that they've had to put in those sort of performance clauses to get contracts across the table with sponsors is very concerning," he said.
"It just shows you the market that they were operating in after last year that they had to get some deals done.
"But it's a worrying sign that Sidiz have done the numbers, and they have decided that it's better for them to walk away rather than stay with Spurs at the moment.
"It's a very worrying position for Spurs to be in. And it's not good in terms of, as I say, even accepting contracts with that sort of clause in it is the biggest worrying point for me. So yes, another big storm cloud for Spurs gathering out there."
Tottenham get 'massive boost' from training ground reveal
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday that Tottenham's squad have had their morale boosted by Dejan Kulusevski's recent return to first-team training.
The 26-year-old hasn't played a competitive game for the club since May 2025, but is now in the final stages of his recovery from a serious knee injury.
Sources say that Roberto De Zerbi and Co. view the midfielder's imminent return as a "massive boost," and it has also provided a lift for the rest of the squad.
Spurs scored their first two goals of the league season just before the international break, and will hope to build on that when they return to action.
