'He will have a big influence' - The four key Tottenham players vs Chelsea named by ex-Spurs scout

Tottenham Hotspur's hopes of beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge lie on the back of James Maddison and three other players.

That is the opinion of former senior Tottenham scout, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.

The 29-year-old has returned from injury in fine form, scoring his first goal in well over a year when he found the net beautifully against Coventry City on Monday.

Tottenham will now hope to follow their first Premier League win of the season with victory over Chelsea in West London, where they have won just once in 36 years.

The Blues have returned from the international break in fine form, beating Bournemouth and Everton convincingly.

But Roberto De Zerbi will hope to breach Xabi Alonso's uncertain defence, with only five Premier League teams having conceded more goals this season so far.

'Tottenham have been lacking performance'

Monday served as a strong confidence-booster for Tottenham, but De Zerbi will be well aware of the task ahead of his team on Saturday.

The Lilywhites have always struggled at Stamford Bridge, and will be facing a Chelsea team full of danger.

"This'll be a good test after the game against Coventry City, because Chelsea, at this moment in time, are a stronger side than what Tottenham are," King told Football Insider.

"This could be a half-decent game. I don't think Chelsea have got too much to worry about against a team like Tottenham, but this could be a decent game, because Spurs have grown in confidence.

"If Maddison can stay fit, then he's going to have a big influence on the boy [Sandro] Tonali. If [Dejan] Kulusevski comes back, he's got [Conor] Gallagher in there as well.

"They've got great experience in midfield, and quality players, but the thing that's been lacking has been performance. Personally, I think Chelsea will beat them.

"But when you look at that side that played against Coventry, okay, we're all going to say, 'it's only Coventry.' But you've still got to beat them, and the quality, especially the two goals.

"The third one seemed to creep in. But Maddison's goal and the second goal, I mean, Jesus Christ. You don't get any better finishes than that, and that's probably what's been lacking from Tottenham. Having strikes on target from distance.

"We mustn't go overboard here. It's their first win of the season. It could be a door-opener for them, but it's going to be a good test up against Chelsea."

Tottenham fighting supercomputer

Unsurprisingly, Tottenham will be overwhelming underdogs at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Opta's supercomputer has handed De Zerbi's team just a 21.8 per cent chance of emerging victorious.

Chelsea, on the other hand, will have a huge 55 per cent chance of winning the game and taking the three points.

Tottenham have plenty of experience playing against low expectations in the last two years, however, and will hope to cause an upset.
