Kieran McKenna to Tottenham verdict after he's spotted at the club

Kieran McKenna appearing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the goalless draw against Everton was "strange" and "weird".

That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that replacing Roberto De Zerbi with the former Ipswich Town boss seems "too obvious".

McKenna has been out of work since stepping down from his role at Portman Road, wanting to take a break after five successful years.

The 40-year-old has recently sparked rumours of a move to North London, having been spotted in the crowd of Spurs' latest Premier League game on Saturday, 12 September.

With the Lilywhites sitting 17th in the table, De Zerbi is already under growing pressure to turn things around, just four games into the new season.

Mick Brown told Football Insider that the 47-year-old could soon be sacked at Hotspur Way, but McKenna might not be the man to take over.

'Seeing Kieran McKenna in the Tottenham crowd was strange'

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson does not believe that McKenna is not what Spurs need as the pressure piles on De Zerbi.

"We're looking at £10m to bring somebody new in. Those are the sort of broad-brush numbers that we're working to in the Premier League," he said.

"Obviously, if you get a manager that's out of work... It was interesting and a bit weird, to be honest, to see Kieran McKenna in the crowd at the home game against Everton.

"He was in the crowd with his wife. It was a bit strange, really, that on a Saturday night, he would take his wife to watch Everton.

"I don't know if there's something behind that. It all looks a bit too obvious it's all a bit strange. Maybe he was watching Everton."

Who is the favourite to replace Roberto De Zerbi?

Several clubs are struggling in the early weeks of the season, with Michael Carrick and Unai Emery already under pressure in England's top flight.

The Manchester United boss is understood to be the most at-risk manager right now, but De Zerbi is not safe in the slightest.

One major bookmaker has Eddie Howe as the favourite to arrive in North London, with the former Newcastle United boss priced at 11/2 right now.

This has changed in the last couple of days, with Spurs still searching for their first league win of the season. Worse than that, De Zerbi's team still need to score their first goal.
