Randal Kolo Muani: Ex-Tottenham scout taken aback by fee as Spurs deal edges closer
Randal Kolo Muani's £43million move to Juventus is hugely surprising considering how poor he was for Tottenham Hotspur last season.
That is the opinion of former senior Tottenham scout, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.
The 27-year-old spent last season on loan in North London, scoring five goals and providing four assists in 41 games across all competitions.
In the Premier League, Kolo Muani scored just once, and was hugely frustrating at times as Tottenham narrowly survived relegation.
The Lilywhites have now moved on from the France international and are hoping to complete deals for both Savinho and Cody Gakpo in the coming weeks.
Another forward or two may well go the other way, with just a year remaining on Richarlison's contract.
Ex-Spurs scout surprised by Randal Kolo Muani deal
Kolo Muani signed for PSG in 2023, joining from Eintracht Frankfurt in a deal worth around £77m.
The forward was coming off an astonishing season for the German club, where he had scored 23 goals and provided 14 assists in 46 games across all competitions.
His first season with the French champions was strong, but the years since have seen that £77m look worse and worse.
Luckily, Juventus appear to have bailed PSG out by signing Kolo Muani, with the deal prompted by the forward's loan move in 2025.
"Well, he didn't produce anything, did he? And through not producing anything, he didn't go to the World Cup, did he? He wasn't in the selection for the World Cup," King told Football Insider.
"I still think that £43m for a player who had a very, very abnormal season last season, could hardly get in the Tottenham team, certainly never was good enough to make the World Cup.
"But there again, that's the market. You know, I think he'll find it easier in Italy than he would in the Premier League anyway. So, it'll be interesting to follow him and see what goes on."

From the moment he walked into the building, it was clear that Roberto De Zerbi had no interest in extending Kolo Muani's loan.
The Italian was left unimpressed by the Frenchman's performances, and was clear in his verdict.
"Kolo Muani I know is not playing a good season but he is a good player", De Zerbi said.
The forward will now hope to revitalise his career in Italy, as he puts a dismal PSG stint behind him.
