Roberto De Zerbi has already admitted he'll sell Guglielmo Vicario, based on this interview
Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi is set to be happy to allow Guglielmo Vicario to leave the club if he wishes.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Vicario is the number one choice for Juventus as they search for a new goalkeeper this summer.
Vicario has been repeatedly linked with a return to Italy in recent months, including interest from Inter Milan.
The 29-year-old's ability to command his penalty area and take ownership of crosses into the box has been criticised at Spurs, with De Zerbi needing to find a stronger goalkeeper in-between the sticks.
Signed under Ange Postecoglou, Vicario arrived to play as a sweeper keeper, but now that the Australian is no longer manager of the club, his weaknesses are being exploited.
Antonin Kinsky deputised in Vicario's absence during the second half of the season, but the 23-year-old may not be Spurs' long-term number one.
Roberto De Zerbi opens the door to player sales
De Zerbi has already made his feelings clear towards Vicario if he wants to leave the club.
Speaking at a press conference before he took charge of his first Spurs match against Sunderland, De Zerbi addressed speculation linking Vicario away from north London: “I certainly don’t want players who don’t want to stay. I want players who are happy to work at this club.”
Vicario could depart having yet to even play a single minute of football under De Zerbi.
Sources have told Football Insider that Spurs are planning to sign a new goalkeeper this summer, making it more likely that Vicario will be able to depart.
Tottenham backing Roberto De Zerbi this summer
De Zerbi is looking to strengthen his squad this summer, and he already looks like he is being backed to bring in the players he wants to sign.
Spurs are heavily pursuing Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke, with the Seagulls having rejected two bids so far for the Dutchman.
Manchester City winger Savinho could also move to north London in a deal worth £60million.
More work is set to be done, with a new midfielder on De Zerbi's radar, whilst other activity could be dependent on any outgoings.
