Roberto De Zerbi is 'getting his way' at Tottenham after source's Savinho update
Roberto De Zerbi is being backed significantly by Tottenham Hotspur this summer with Savinho next on the hit list.
That is the opinion of former senior Tottenham scout, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.
Sources say that Spurs are advancing over a deal worth around £65million for the Manchester City winger, 22.
Savinho is a long-term target for Tottenham and looks set to take their transfer spending this summer to over £300m.
Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka have all arrived this summer amid a serious overhaul of De Zerbi's squad.
Luka Vuskovic has left the club for big money and may well be joined by Djed Spence and Lucas Bergvall, as Tottenham look to recoup some funds.
Tottenham close on 'exciting' Savinho move
Tottenham were in talks to sign Savinho last summer, but ultimately failed to get the deal over the line.
They appear to have come back with far more determination this year, however, with a deal moving towards a conclusion.
Man City are reportedly assessing replacements for the Brazil international, who is keen to move to North London.
Savinho made seven Premier League starts last season, scoring four goals and providing two assists across all competitions.
He had been a breath of fresh air for Man City upon his arrival in 2024, and Tottenham will hope to encourage that talent out once more.
"Looks like it because, you know, when you look at who's left Tottenham. The boy [Brennan] Johnson went to Palace, wide player. [Dejan] Kulusevski has had a hell of an injury-hit season," King told Football Insider.
"Is he going to come back? Is he going to be fit or whatever? So, this is the kind of player that is exciting. He's young, Brazilian. He's certainly the kind of player that the new manager would like, that's for sure.
"And he seems to be getting his way, doesn't he? Players that he wants are being brought in."
What else do Tottenham need this summer?
Tottenham appear to be going all out this summer, with no De Zerbi wanting no stone left unturned in his squad.
The attack is the next area of priority, and Savinho's arrival will need to be backed up by more new figures.
A new striker could be on the watchlist, while a right-winger will almost certainly be needed to compete with Mohammed Kudus.
With Xavi Simons and Kulusevski facing question marks over their injuries, and with James Maddison having just returned from a long-term absence himself, an attacking midfielder would not go amiss either.
