Roberto De Zerbi: Tottenham 'have made their decision' over sacking

Tottenham Hotspur are planning to stick by Roberto De Zerbi and have decided not to pull the trigger so early into the season.

Spurs have yet to win any of their five Premier League games so far, with two draws and three defeats including a 3-2 loss at home against Aston Villa last time out.

That has raised concerns behind the scenes, with the manager's position called into question, and the fans are growing increasingly impatient with their performances.

However, former Tottenham scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that the club have no plans to sack De Zerbi after backing him so heavily in the summer transfer window.

Spurs spent upwards of £300million on new players to back the manager, and despite the slow start, remain confident that he is the man to get the best out of them.

While there are concerns that their struggles cannot continue for much longer, they are highly unlikely to pull the trigger during the upcoming international break.

Why are Tottenham sticking with Roberto De Zerbi?

Football Insider revealed on 11 September that Tottenham are planning to give De Zerbi time to turn their results around and are not speculating about his future.

While there is a feeling that results must improve after what has been a poor start, Spurs have been urged to look internally at decisions which could help their situation.

After spending heavily to back him during the summer, the decision has already been made to support De Zerbi, and that will remain the case during the international break.

"Tottenham have made their decision about Roberto De Zerbi already," Brown told Football Insider.

"They made a financial commitment to him during the summer transfer window with all the money they spent on new players, and they hope he can get the best out of them.

"I can't see them going back on that so soon, despite what has been a really poor start to the season, they'll want to support him.

"Maybe they have to look internally at some things they could change to support the manager, but in the meantime, they still think he is the man to turn things around.

"That could change, of course, but for now there are no plans to let him go and they hope their form will improve after this three-week break.

"It's inevitable that there's going to be talk about his future when they're not winning games, he's always going to be under pressure.

"It's about how long it goes on for, really, because we know in football that no manager can survive long runs without a win regardless of whether the club want to pull the trigger or not."

When could Tottenham sack De Zerbi?

Despite Tottenham's current plans to back De Zerbi through what has been a difficult spell, they could be forced into a decision later down the line.

After five Premier League games without a win, and elimination from the League Cup, there is a feeling that results must improve after the international break.

Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider on 9 September that De Zerbi could face the sack in mid-November if results do not improve by that time.

Spurs are hoping to return from the three-week break with better performances after the boss has time to work on his team and get his ideas across.

However, should they fail to show major improvements before the next international break in two months' time, then the club could be forced into a decision.
