Charlton Athletic's Daniel Kanu, Tottenham Hotspur's Dane Scarlett and Aston Villa's Rory Wilson are on the radar for several League One clubs, sources have told Football Insider.

Reading, Huddersfield Town, Notts County, Leyton Orient, Burton Albion and Wimbledon are among the sides hoping to sign a new striker before next week's transfer deadline.

It remains to be seen whether each player will be allowed to leave on loan, with decisions to be made before the window closes.

Scarlett is expected to leave Tottenham this summer one way or the other, with just one year remaining on the 22-year-old's deal in North London.

The same can be said of Kanu, who scored 18 goals in 45 games across all competitions for Walsall last season and is expected to leave Charlton in the coming days.

The Addicks have rejected bids for the 21-year-old, but will be forced to make a decision or risk losing him on a free transfer next summer.

League One targets profiled

Scarlett initially made his breakthrough for Tottenham in 2021, scoring a single goal in the 27 senior appearances that have followed.

The young forward ripped it up at Under-18 level, but has struggled to adapt to the physicality of the senior game.

Loan moves to Portsmouth, Ipswich Town, Oxford United and Hibernian have passed by unsuccessfully, with Scarlett now expected to take the step back down to League One.

Kanu has made 71 appearances for Charlton and has scored nine goals, but has struggled with the step up to the Championship.

Much less is known about Wilson, who is yet to make his senior appearance for Villa and featured just four times on loan at Sturm Graz last season.

The 20-year-old has thrived at the youth level, scoring 24 goals in 22 games for the U18s, but it remains to be seen how he will handle the move to senior football.

What other young strikers could be on the market?

It remains to be seen what other strikers could well become available for loan move in the final days of the window.

The likes of Manchester United's Chido Obi and Arsenal's Andre Harriman-Annous would undoubtedly garner huge interest if they did.

The same can be said of Chelsea sensation Shumair Mheuka, who is reportedly considering his loan options this summer.

The Premier League 2 player of the season scored 17 goals in 17 league games last season and is among the most highly touted young strikers in academy football right now.
