Sources: Tottenham make contact over Andreas Schjelderup deal
Tottenham have registered an interest in Benfica and Norway star Andreas Schjelderup after he shone at the World Cup, sources have told Football Insider.
Roberto De Zerbi is overseeing an overhaul of his Tottenham squad after they narrowly avoided relegation last season.
He is yet to bolster his attacking ranks, as defensive and midfield arrivals are prioritised, but Spurs are in the market for some new forwards in the coming months.
Schjelderup caught the eye of suitors as he shone for Norway during their run to the World Cup quarter-final.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Tottenham are one of the clubs keen on signing him this summer.
The Norway star is not set to sign a new contract with the Primeira Liga giants, so an exit seems likely this summer.
Tottenham keen on Andreas Schjelderup after World Cup showings
Schjelderup earned a place as a regular in the Norway side at the World Cup after registering 11 goals and six assists in 46 games for Benfica last season.
He set up two goals in Norway's win over Brazil and then scored against England in their quarter-final defeat.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Schjelderup’s World Cup performances have caught the eye of some of the biggest clubs across Europe, including multiple Premier League clubs.
"I know Tottenham have shown an interest and are in the market for a new left-sided winger or forward, so Schjelderup definitely ticks a lot of boxes for them in that respect, as that is where he plays for Norway and Benfica. He had a very good World Cup."
Tottenham respond to Ipswich's Mikey Moore offer
Moore can also feature on the left wing but looks set to leave North London again during the summer window.
He impressed out on loan at Rangers last season with seven goals and three assists in 33 Premiership matches.
Several clubs are interested in loaning him in for next term, but sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Ipswich's offer for Moore has been rejected this week.
The North London outfit do not want to send the 18-year-old out to a club that they expect to be battling relegation next season.
