Micky van de Ven is content at Tottenham and has no plans to explore an exit in January, sources have told Football Insider.

Man United have made Van de Ven their top defensive target ahead of the next transfer window, while Liverpool retain an interest in his services.

The 25-year-old has started the campaign as a first-choice centre-back for Spurs under Roberto De Zerbi after playing at left-back for the majority of last season.

He signed a new five-year contract extension in North London in August to rule out a summer departure.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Van de Ven remains keen to help Tottenham turn their form around and will not push to leave in the new year.

He has committed to Spurs until 2031 and United's slim chances of landing his signature are fading.

Micky van de Ven will stay at Spurs amid close relationship with Roberto De Zerbi

De Zerbi confirmed Van de Ven as his new club captain just days after he had penned a new long-term deal.

The Dutchman is yet to show his best form at the start of this campaign, but will not be tempted away from Tottenham midway through the season even if their struggles continue.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "He was considering his future before the appointment of Roberto De Zerbi last March, and obviously De Zerbi played a crucial role in Van de Ven's decision to extend his stay.

"Tottenham have had a poor start to the season, there's no getting away from that, but I don't think that will have any massive impact on Van de Ven's thinking right now. He'll be confident that they can turn things around."

Sources: Tottenham make Dejan Kulusevski contract decision after return update

Tottenham want to offer Dejan Kulusevski a new contract

With Van de Ven tied down for several years, Spurs are focusing on sorting out other contracts while the transfer window is closed.

Sources have revealed to Football Insider that Kulusevski will be offered a new contract by Tottenham if he makes a strong return to action in the coming months.

The Swedish winger's deal is currently set to expire in 2028, and he has not played a first-team game for the club since May 2025.

Kulusevski's patella injury has put his career on hold for nearly 18 months, but he is due to return to action in the next six weeks.
