Stefan Borson: Why Tottenham left new sponsor off 2026-27 training kit
Tottenham Hotspur could have multiple reasons for leaving the new Betano sponsor off their training kit for 2026-27.
That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that images from Tottenham training will be worth "good money".
Supporters were confused about the club's release of the new training kit ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, with the sponsor missing from the front.
Based on Spurs' previous deal with BetMGM, the Betano deal could be worth in the region of £10million-a-year, but it doesn't appear on the kit being sold to the fans this summer.
Many feel that this is valuable financial gain being missed out on by the Lilywhites, but Borson believes there could be a very good reason for this.
With Daniel Levy gone, the transfer tactics have changed in North London, but the sensible financial moves continue.
Betano's current deal with Tottenham 'worth good money'
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson believes that Betano are more than happy with their sponsor being displayed in training each week.
"I suspect that that whole training kit block is not really worth that much money anyway. And so, they probably didn't didn't really worry too much about it," he said.
"I think for Betano, they must be looking at the the proposition, and this applies to all of the training kit sponsors...
"They must think that the press photos, and the constant photos during the week are worth good money.
"It's more about media and the repeated Sky Sports News, the newspapers. It's that kind of wider brand as opposed to the replica training kits that you sell to a very small number of fans in the end."
Spurs reap the rewards after Aston Villa deal
Supporters were extremely pleased with the Betano deal, and Spurs are taking advantage of Aston Villa missing out on extra funds.
Despite Villa securing Champions League football and finishing in the top four Premier League spots, Betano clearly chose a different path this summer.
Instead, they've done a deal with Spurs, one which has already been labelled "brilliant" by Borson, but still a surprising one given the two club's different situations.
Currently, Roberto De Zerbi's Lilywhites appear to be on the rise, especially in the transfer market, and that could continue into the 2026-27 campaign.
