Tottenham Hotspur could make a move for Chelsea striker Liam Delap in the ongoing transfer window.

The North London outfit have been linked with the former Ipswich Town centre-forward, who hasn't had the best of seasons at Stamford Bridge after the Blues signed him for £30million last summer.

Roberto De Zerbi will surely be looking to reinforce his squad in the coming weeks after barely surviving Premier League relegation, but the young English attacker surely won't fill fans in N17 with a lot of encouragement.

Chelsea would likely want to recoup the money they spent on Delap and Spurs risk wasting their money on the striker if they go ahead with a deal.

The Lilywhites spent a significant sum on Dominic Solanke after his impressive spell at Bournemouth, but it's fair to say that their financial gamble hasn't paid off.

Spurs could potentially be staring at a familiar black hole if they sign Delap permanently despite his failure to prove himself in London.

What has been said about Tottenham's interest in Liam Delap?

Delap enjoyed an impressive spell with Ipswich in the Premier League, prompting several top-flight teams to bet on his potential.

Chelsea won the race for the 23-year-old's signature, but he scored just one goal in 28 league appearances for them, failing to cement a place in the starting lineup.

According to Ben Jacobs, Tottenham are among the teams interested in the forward and his situation at Stamford Bridge is one to keep an eye on.

Spurs and the Blues don't normally do too much business with each other and it remains to be seen whether they will be willing to sell Delap to a rival club.

Speaking on Last Word On Spurs on 14 June, Jacobs said, "I think that Delap could be one to watch from Chelsea, another club that Tottenham wouldn't normally do too much business with. Newcastle, Everton, Tottenham, the three clubs that like Delap."

Spurs plan for departures under Roberto De Zerbi

Sources told Football Insider on 14 June that Tottenham will return with an improved offer for Jan Paul van Hecke after Brighton & Hove Albion rejected two bids for the centre-back.

It looks like the North London outfit are already anticipating Cristian Romero or Micky van de Ven's exit in the coming weeks and have a replacement lined up

Radu Dragusin will also certainly be looking for pastures new after struggling for game time at Spurs and it makes sense for them to add more depth in that department.
