Tottenham Hotspur are accelerating plans to strengthen their squad with the addition of Manchester City star Savinho.

Spurs missed out on a deal to sign the 22-year-old last summer, but saw their efforts blocked by Pep Guardiola, who wanted to keep him as part of his squad at the Etihad.

They are now prepared to step up their interest once more, and are preparing to open talks in the near future, despite no formal bid having been made yet.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Tottenham believe a firm £60million offer will be enough to lure him away from Man City.

The Etihad club are now open to the winger's exit after he fell down the pecking order under Guardiola, and are planning big changes after the boss' exit.

Spurs, meanwhile, have enjoyed a strong start to the window and are looking to improve in multiple key positions ahead of their return for pre-season.

Could Tottenham agree a deal with Man City for Savinho?

Football Insider revealed on 27 May that Tottenham are exploring a deal for Savinho and have received positive indications that he could be available this summer.

Despite missing out last year, they have been keeping a close eye on his situation, and are now prepared to finally lure him away from the Etihad.

A £60m offer is likely to be enough to get a deal over the line, and Spurs are now growing in confidence that the winger will arrive in North London in the near future.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "There's a strong chance now that this deal will finally go through for Tottenham to land Savinho this summer.

"Tottenham are expected to formalise their interest in the Brazilian with an offer in the coming weeks.

"He is a top target for them, has remained so from last summer when they were very close to signing him as well.

"Man City would not stand in his way if they do get a good offer for the winger as well of around £60 million, they would be happy to let him move on to Tottenham.

"Even though he ended up staying at City last year, he found first-team chances hard to come by with just seven Premier League starts under Pep Guardiola.

"If City are to strengthen their squad with potential signings, it might push Savinho down the pecking order.

"I would expect things to move on this one sooner rather than later and Tottenham are pretty confident that they can get a deal done for Savinho this time."

How does Savinho feel about joining Tottenham?

While Spurs have been extremely keen on doing a deal for Savinho, a lot is likely to depend on whether the winger wants to make the move to North London.

After what proved to be a difficult season last time out, Spurs could face issues luring players in without European football on offer, although that may not be a major issue.

Football Insider revealed on 28 May that Savinho is keen on the idea of joining Tottenham and would welcome the opportunity to discuss terms over the move.

The Brazilian has endured another season of limited gametime at Manchester City, and he is now prepared to move on in search of an increased role.

Roberto De Zerbi is set to play a key part in talks, as he will try to convince the winger of his role in the squad with potential assurances over his playing time.
