Tottenham's issues with medical staff glaringly obvious after Pedro Porro reveal
Pedro Porro's latest injury is just another blow to an already frustrating 2026-27 season for Tottenham Hotspur.
Despite spending over £300million on transfers over the summer, Roberto De Zerbi's side are rock-bottom of the Premier League after five games.
Conor Gallagher and Jan Paul van Hecke may have scored Spurs' first goals of the campaign against Aston Villa before the international break, but it wasn't even enough for a single point.
Things just don't seem to be gelling on the field, and De Zerbi is already feeling the heat after being heavily backed by the owners during the summer.
Now, further cracks are beginning to show in North London, and that's exactly what happens when you attempted to paper over them previously.
For multiple seasons now, the Lilywhites have been faced with injury crisis after injury crisis, with many choosing to blame the medical staff.
Pedro Porro doesn't trust Tottenham staff
Thomas Frank brought an entirely new staff on board during his tenure, wanting to fix the issues seen during Ange Postecoglou's injury-riddled seasons.
However, despite his best efforts, Spurs were bound by the same curse, losing James Maddison, Mohammed Kudus and Micky van de Ven.
Of course, Dejan Kulusevski has been a mainstay in the treatment room, and he's now been joined by Porro, who was forced off against Villa after just 19 minutes.
While some will put it down to luck, it would appear that Spurs' backroom staff simply aren't good enough, and it's leading to issues on the pitch.
Instead of remaining in North London during the international break, Porro has decided that returning to Spain is a far better option, which wold suggest a lack of faith in Tottenham's staff.
Roberto De Zerbi about to be handed huge boost
Porro's injury won't be bad news for everyone. The lack of right-back should mean that Archie Gray gets a start once the season resumes.
As well as that, Football Insider understands that Spurs have received a huge moral boost, with Kulusevski returning to training.
The 26-year-old hasn't featured since the 2024-25 campaign, when he notched 21 goal contributions, after sustaining a knee injury.
His impact in the final third would be immeasurable, but it might be quite some time before he returns to his old self after such a long time out.
