Tottenham will not prioritise a new centre-back signing in the January window despite their defensive woes so far this season, sources have told Football Insider.

Roberto De Zerbi looked to have shored up Spurs' backline at the end of last season as they survived relegation by the skin of their teeth.

The summer additions of Jan-Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi and Tosin seemed to have further bolstered an already strong defensive unit.

Spurs have shipped three goals on three separate occasions already this season, however, and so sit bottom of the Premier League as it stands.

Tottenham have been linked to several defenders ahead of January, but as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, they are unlikely to pursue another centre-back as De Zerbi trusts his existing options.

Bayern Munich star Kim Min-jae is believed to be on their radar, but will not be arriving in North London in the upcoming window.

Tottenham decide against making centre-back additions in January

Micky van de Ven and Van Hecke have been De Zerbi's first-choice partnership at the back so far this season.

The likes of Senesi and Tosin have struggled to make an impact, but the Tottenham manager is content with his current options after such an expensive summer.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Tottenham have liked Kim Min-Jae in the past, but do they really need him right now or do they need another centre-back? In my opinion, probably not.

"They bought a few in the summer, with Van Hecke coming in and Senesi as well, so I don't think it'll be a top priority for Tottenham to make a move for Kim Min-jae.

"These things might change in the summer but I don't think it's a top priority for Tottenham right now in the January window."

Tottenham's latest stance on selling Van de Ven revealed

Van de Ven has continued to impress individually this season despite Spurs' struggles as a defence and team.

The Dutch international is reportedly attracting interest from the likes of Liverpool and Man United despite recently signing a new Tottenham contract.

Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Spurs have no plans to sell Van de Ven as both clubs prepare offers for his services.

De Zerbi is keen to hang on to his key centre-back and Van de Ven is believed to be content in North London as they aim to turn their poor early-season form around.
