Tottenham Hotspur supporters are furious that they did not seal a deal for Cody Gakpo after the Liverpool star continued his fine form in the 2-0 victory against Ipswich Town.

The winger picked up two assists in the win on Friday to give the Reds their first victory of the campaign.

As a result, the 27-year-old has now picked up three assists and netted once in his first three Premier League matches of the season.

Gakpo had been heavily linked with an Anfield exit in the summer transfer window, with both Manchester City and Tottenham keen on his signature.

However, neither side were able to secure a deal for the Netherlands international before the transfer window closed on Tuesday.

Now, Tottenham supporters are livid about the situation, as the attacker continues to show how good he could have been for the club this season.

Tottenham were heavy spenders in the summer transfer window.

The North London club signed players such as Omar Marmoush and Savio to boost their attack.

However, Gakpo was a clear target for the club for months, and despite their efforts, Spurs were simply unable to bring him in.

As a result, Spurs had to settle for Mykhailo Mudryk on loan, who has not played a professional match since November 2024.

Therefore, when Tottenham fans saw Gakpo pick up another two assists against Ipswich, they were fuming and quickly took to X to express their disappointment that they didn’t sign the winger.

Gakpo was outstanding in the victory against Ipswich Town.

According to Fotmob on 5 September, he created three chances, a 0.40 xA, completed 92 per cent of his passes, completed all three of his attempted dribbles, made eight line-breaking passes and won eight out of his 11 ground duels.

Therefore, if these performances continue, Spurs could come to massively regret not signing Gakpo in the summer transfer window.

This is especially true when you consider just how poor Tottenham have been so far this campaign, and an attacker like the Netherlands international would certainly win the club more points this season.
