Mykhailo Mudryk must score '10+' Tottenham goals to trigger permanent deal
Mykhailo Mudryk will need to hit over 10 goals this season for Tottenham Hotspur to consider signing him on a permanent deal.
That is according to former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes that the Ukrainian must establish himself as a key figure for the Lilywhites in order to make the move permanent.
The winger has moved across to North London from Chelsea on a season-long loan deal, with Roberto De Zerbi's side also having the option to buy him for a fee of £75million.
However, Wyness believes that the 25-year-old will have to outperform expectations for that clause to be triggered, and feels that he must end the campaign with at least 10 goals to his name.
The widemen received limited opportunities for Chelsea in pre-season after his doping ban was lifted, but he has gone straight into the matchday squad at Spurs.
He enjoyed a 16-minute cameo from the bench in their 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest last weekend, and will hope to establish himself as a starter in the coming weeks.
Mykhailo Mudryk set for Tottenham 'audition'
Everton’s former chief Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Mudryk will effectively undergo an "audition" at Tottenham during his loan spell this season.
The former Shakhtar Donetsk man will need to prove himself again after his ban if he is to earn another permanent move within the Premier League.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, Wyness was clear that it will not be an easy task for him to earn a permanent stay at Spurs.
"Well, Mudryk's got to do a lot. He's got an audition, that's all he's got right now," he said.
"£75m is a big price tag, and as we all know, a lot of these agreed prices don't always come out to be what is agreed.
"He's going to have to score over double digits, and he's going to have to help and assist. He's going to have to shine to get it because the way they'll be looking at it is: if it's £75m, what are the alternative uses for that £75m?
"Is it going on the defence? Is it the wings? What's it going to be? And has Mudryk justified £75m or even £50m, whatever the number is going to be?"
Chelsea 'sweating' over Mykhailo Mudryk
Wyness told Football Insider earlier this week that it is Chelsea who will be truly "sweating" over Mudryk's performances in the coming months.
The wideman clearly has no long-term future at Stamford Bridge, but he could continue to cause problems for his parent club if he doesn't perform.
Wyness outlined that if Mudryk fails to perform during his time with Spurs, then Chelsea will be left with an asset of little value, who is also occupying a significant wage.
With that in mind, he is adamant that the Blues will be paying close attention to how he performs across the capital, in the hope that Tottenham are enticed into taking him permanently.
