Nico Paz should be Tottenham Hotspur's top target ahead of the summer, should the club avoid Premier League relegation.

The 21-year-old has long been linked with a move to England, though Real Madrid is likely to be his next destination due to the very cheap release clause they added into his contract at Como.

However, that should not deter Spurs from making a big-money move for the Argentine, with Los Blancos possibly open to selling at the right price, given the amount of talent already at the club.

Tottenham's transfer plans will likely depend on their league status ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, but should they be in the Premier League again, the first task should be persuading Paz across.

Lionel Messi applauds Nico Paz in Argentina win

Although the Lilywhites already have Xavi Simons in the attacking midfield role, with James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski yet to return from their respective injuries, he has not exactly set the world alight.

Paz, on the other hand, has 10 goals and six assists in 29 league appearances for Como, with the club moving up to fourth in the Serie A table, just five points behind Napoli.

The young talent has certainly proven himself since leaving Real Madrid, and even Lionel Messi was impressed by his goal against Mauritania on Friday, 27 March.

The camera immediately panned to Messi, who actually replaced Paz at the half-time break, and he couldn't help but applaud the free-kick after doubling Argentina's lead.

Tottenham must seal big-money transfer after Premier League survival

Tottenham were heavily linked with Paz back in November, and with the summer transfer window quickly approaching, the club must reignite their interest in the 21-year-old talent.

Of course, the Lilywhites won't be making any serious plans until their safety in the top tier of English football is secured, if that even happens this season.

It is abundantly clear that the squad needs a complete overhaul this summer, and the first signing should be Paz, no matter the price tag that Madrid put on his head.

He is an incredible talent, one that the Premier League deserves to see live, but it could come at quite a cost for Spurs.
