Tottenham in race against time to seal £12.8m Richarlison deal
Tottenham Hotspur are in a race against time to agree a deal for striker Richarlison seal a move back to his native Brazil, sources have told Football Insider.
The Lilywhites have been working to sell the frontman for large parts of the summer, and saw a planned deal to sell him to Everton fall through in the latter stages of the summer.
The 29-year-old has since been left out of Roberto De Zerbi's squad for the Premier League campaign, and is out of contract next summer.
However, a last-minute chance has now emerged for Spurs to secure a fee for their out-of-favour star.
Vasco da Gama have submitted a bid worth £17.1million for the former Everton star, and are keen to take him back to Brazil for the next stage of his career.
It remains to be seen how Tottenham will respond to the offer, but the Brazilian outfit are seemingly confident that they can get a deal done.
Tottenham must act quick to seal Richarlison exit
The transfer window may have closed in the Premier League, but there are still a limited number of opportunities for English clubs to sell their stars.
The Brazilian Serie A presents one of those chances, as their transfer window is not due to close until 4am on Saturday morning in UK time.
Vasco's late bid for Richarlison is a last-minute attempt to secure a marquee signing, and it could provide the perfect solution for Tottenham.
According to Newscolina via X, Vasco's proposition contains a fixed fee of around £12.8m, with a further £4.3m to come in bonuses.
Their bid has given Spurs the perfect chance to secure a fee for a player who is now of little use to them, but they must be decisive in their decision-making if they want to offload Richarlison.
If they delay their response to the bid or reject it, then they have lost their final chance to move the striker out the door.
Tottenham set January Richarlison plan
Football Insider revealed earlier this week that Tottenham intend to let Richarlison leave for next-to-nothing in January if they cannot offload him now.
De Zerbi and Co. are adamant that there is now no future for him in North London, and they have already decided that they will not extend his contract.
With the player now only available to be used in the domestic cup competitions, it is clear that all parties are keen to head in separate directions as quickly as possible.
That could happen within the next 24 hours, but it will require clarity of thought from the Tottenham hierarchy, and a desire to make the deal happen.
