Tottenham Hotspur simply have to add an elite-level striker to their squad during the January transfer window.

The Lilywhites spent over £300million on new additions to their squad in the summer, but failed to bolster their options in terms of out-and-out strikers.

The issue has become increasingly prevalent for them in the early weeks of the season, with only Dominic Solanke a natural fit to play through the middle.

He netted a stoppage-time equaliser in the draw with Manchester United last weekend, but has faced huge question marks surrounding both his form and fitness in recent years.

Solanke's strike at Old Trafford was just his fourth Premier League goal since the 2024-25 campaign, and Spurs simply have to find more competition for him moving forward.

The issues at the top of the pitch are compounded even further by the fact that the wide players are doing their jobs well at the moment.

Savinho tops Premier League chart

Tottenham spent an initial £75million to sign Savinho from Manchester City in the summer, a figure which was questioned by many fans at the time.

The Brazilian is still waiting for his first league goal involvement for his new club, but his underlying stats have been promising so far.

According to Hotspur Lane via X on Sunday evening, the 22-year-old tops the entire Premier League for successful take-ons so far this season, with 18 to his name already.

Alarmingly for Spurs, Omar Marmoush and Mohammed Kudus also join him inside the top four with 12 apiece, despite the latter having started just one game.

However, while those stats are positive for those individuals, it highlights the issue that Roberto De Zerbi's side have when it comes to putting the ball in the back of the net.

Their attackers are getting into good areas with their dribbling, but they lack a number nine with a true killer instinct to finish chances.

With the January window on the horizon, a high-quality addition in that department could be all Spurs need to climb the table.

Dominic Solanke's updated Tottenham exit revealed as new striker plan in place

Dominic Solanke keen to fight for his place

Football Insider revealed on Sunday that Solanke's future at Tottenham is secure, despite the club searching for a new frontman this winter.

The England international is happy to remain and fight for his place in North London, even if a new man comes in alongside him.

There is a feeling at Tottenham that the 29-year-old has been held back by injuries since his move to North London, and the club still have hope that he can come good.

However, at the moment, it couldn't be more obvious that De Zerbi needs a new option at the top of the pitch to help his team improve.
