Why Mohammed Kudus should be axed vs Coventry, Tottenham 60% duel winner to replace him
Roberto De Zerbi will have had plenty of time to think about his Tottenham Hotspur lineup against Coventry City.
The Lilywhites spent some time out in Marbella as they looked to build relationships within the squad.
Tottenham's performance in the 1-1 draw against Manchester United was better than we have typically seen this season.
Yet, Spurs were still unable to get the three points over the line, with Dominic Solanke's last-gasp equaliser saving face.
Now, ahead of Coventry City, the pressure will be on to secure that first win.
And one Spurs player should be dropped to the bench for Monday night.
Why Mohammed Kudus should be benched vs Coventry
Mohammed Kudus was quite ineffective against Man United, and truthfully, someone like Omar Marmoush could have made a bigger difference.
The summer signing, though, was rested, but his teammate should now face the same fate.
Kudus' performance versus United could certainly have been much better; the Ghanaian ended the match with zero key passes as per Sofascore.
The winger is also known for his mazy runs and ability to carry the ball with his dribbling, but utterly failed to showcase that at Old Trafford.
He completed just two of seven dribbles attempted - a 28 per cent success rate.
In terms of his battles, he more often failed than succeeded, winning just four of 12 ground duels - 25 per cent completion.
When Marmoush came on in his place, the former Man City forward was not much better with dribbling, as he completed one of three.
But his presence in terms of battling against the opposition was far and away much improved.
Marmoush won three out of five contested duels, and that presence will be needed against Coventry.
De Zerbi must be ruthless with Kudus
Dropping Kudus could be seen as ruthless, especially seeing as this was the African's first start of the Premier League season.
However, De Zerbi cannot be patient at this moment in time, with Tottenham desperately needing to get results.
There is undoubtedly quality in the legs of the 26-year-old, but at the moment he is struggling to show that.
Playing his stars into form is a luxury that simply cannot be afforded.
Kudus may be disappointed to return to the bench after his first start, but De Zerbi must prioritise Tottenham's needs over individual players' feelings.
