Tottenham are in the hunt to sign Norwich attacker James Maddison in the summer, according to a report.
The Mirror claims that Spurs are joined by Liverpool in the race for Maddison, 21, and are ready to do battle with their Premier League rivals at the end of the season.
It is understood that Norwich will not let Maddison leave during the January transfer window and will instead decide to cash in on another midfielder in Alex Pritchard, as the former Spurs man closes in on an £11million switch to Huddersfield.
The report adds that Southampton are also among the clubs chasing Maddison while Wolves are also said to have been linked.
The attacking midfielder, formerly of Coventry, has been in the form of his life this season.
He has made 28 appearances across all competitions for Norwich this term, scoring seven goals and supplying eight assists in the process.
Football Insider verdict
Maddison is a decent young attacking midfielder, but he is nowhere good enough to be getting into the first-team at either Tottenham or Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp already has a very top-heavy squad and does not really need many more attacking players while Spurs have a great deal of young talent coming through that could be more worthwhile to develop that Maddison. The ex-Coventry ace has done wonders this season and is destined to play in the Premier League soon. However he does not appear to be good enough to get into a top six side just yet, and may be best off playing for a mid-table team, like Southampton.
