Tottenham insider 'can't rule out' Newcastle signing Kane after Telegraph update

The possibility of Harry Kane leaving Tottenham to sign for Newcastle cannot be ruled out.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Newcastle have been linked with a host of top players since their Saudi-led takeover was finalised last week.

Kane was the subject of major transfer speculation last summer after admitting he wanted to leave the club.

He remains at the club and has scored five goals in all competitions this season.

On 9 October, The Telegraph claimed Newcastle are targetting a striker as one of five additions in January.

The England captain could feasibly eclipse Alan Shearer’s Premier League goalscoring record before he retires.

Wenham admits he can’t rule out Kane joining Newcastle after their mega-money takeover.

Wenham told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild, “There have been people saying ‘could Newcastle be in for Kane?’

“I mean, he wants to break that Premier League scoring record. Do Newcastle have the money Tottenham are asking for?

“It seems like they do. Would he come up and take the number nine shirt?

“He’s the best striker in the world for me’ He would be instantly loved and would follow in the footsteps of the great Alan Shearer.

“Who knows? Time will tell. You can’t rule it out.”

Kane has failed to score in the Premier League this season.

Newcastle’s top scorer this season is Callum Wilson with two goals.
