Tottenham insider: Dele Alli deal 'lined up' as move to Premier League club beckons 'within days' of window opening

Dele Alli could leave Tottenham within days of the January transfer window opening.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

On Monday (13 December), The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported Alli, 25, will be allowed to leave Tottenham in January.

It was claimed a loan move is more realistic with clubs not prepared to meet Tottenham’s probable asking price.

Wenham predicts a deal will be done over the next few weeks.

“The Telegraph have clearly been briefed by the club that Alli is available in January,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“That is really good timing. We have three weeks to go so hopefully he can go within days of the window opening.

“A deal could be lined up over the next few weeks and he could be gone, which is best for everyone right now.

“There is the potential to have a Lingard-like resurgence, whether that will happen or not is a different matter.

“But if you get the best of Alli, you get a player who can score 10 goals from midfield.

“That could be enough to save you from relegation. I think a loan move to a Premier League side is more realistic.

“I said this weeks ago. No one will pay what we want for Alli. So a loan with the option to buy makes a lot of sense.”

Alli has made 14 appearances in all competitions this season.

He has scored twice and provided one assist.
