Tottenham insider hits out after 'hard to believe' Markanday claims
Any stories linking Dilan Markanday with a permanent move away from Tottenham are the work of his agent as he looks to earn a better deal for his client.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
As reported by the Evening Standard last Wednesday (1 December), Celtic and Rangers have joined the hunt to sign the 20-year-old either on a temporary or permanent basis.
Markanday is continuing to impress in the Premier League 2, scoring 11 goals in 13 games.
He is out of contract at the end of the season but Wenham “fully expects” him to sign a new deal before going out on loan in January.
“I fully expect he will stay at Tottenham,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I think with the interviews he’s given over the last weeks and months have very much been an indication of that.
“He said something like he wants to be here for the next 15 years. I know he’s a Tottenham fan as well.
“I expect something will be worked out. This is just his agent doing his job and trying to get the best deal for his client.
“He’s consistently improved over the last 18-months and I’m sure all parties will come to an agreement that reflects that.
“Any links with a permanent move are hard to believe, as I said I think it’s just the agent doing his job.
“I fully expect Markanday to sign a new contract before heading out on loan in January.”
Markanday made his Spurs debut in the 1-0 defeat to Vitesse Arnhem earlier this season.
He became the first British-Asian to play for Tottenham in doing so.
