Tottenham insider reveals Conte's 'big' Hotspur Way fix for problem caused by Mourinho

New Tottenham boss Antonio Conte will spend the international break trying to fix a major problem caused by Jose Mourinho.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

In the wake of Conte’s arrival on 2 November, Constantino Coratti, Gian Piero Ventrone and Stefano Bruno joined as fitness coaches.

Wenham has previously complained about players such as Tanguy Ndombele being unable to complete a 90-minute match due to a lack of fitness.

He claims Conte’s appointments prove he has spotted this problem and will try to improve his squad’s fitness levels over the international break.

“It was very noticeable that Conte brought in three fitness coaches,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“That’s not something we have had at Tottenham before, that’s a big thing. He is clearly concerned about the level the players are at.

“That issue goes back to Jose Mourinho’s time at the club, it was a major problem for him.

“The players were beginning to get their fitness back under Nuno, we saw that with Ndombele and Lo Celso.

“They were finally able to complete a 90-minute game for the first time in forever.

“There is going to be a lot of work going on at Hotspur Way over the next two weeks and I think fitness will be a big part of that.”

Tottenham won Conte’s first game in charge by beating Vitesse 3-2.

However, his side couldn’t follow that up with a win in the league as they drew 0-0 with Everton on Sunday.
