Tottenham are in hot pursuit of £9million-rated Hamburg striker Jann Fiete Arp after he snubbed the offer of a new contract, according to a report.

German outlet Bild claim the north Londoners are set to intensify their pursuit of Arp, 18, as is club struggle to avoid relegation from the Bundesliga.

It is said that Arp’s future is up in the air and that he has failed to sign a four-year contract offered by Hamburg.

Bild report that Tottenham are moving into position to work on a deal to sign the teenager, who is likely to be available for a fee of around £9million as he is out of contract in the summer of 2019.

There are a few points in Spurs’ favour, as the German publication explain that Arp is a boyhood fan of the club and that they are his PlayStation team.

Moreover, his agent Jürgen Milewski is said to have good contacts in England and one of the deals he brokered was German winger Leroy Sane’s transfer to Manchester City.

Football Insider verdict:

Spurs’ pursuit of Arp, early days as it is, has all the hallmarks of their lengthy bid to land Juan Foyth last year. Like the Argentine defender, Arp is a rising star who has just made his mark on senior football – he has scored two goals in 15 matches since being fast-tracked into the senior side – and has the potential to make it at a Premier League giant. Intriguingly, Hamburg academy product Arp has a strong Spurs attachment, which can only help grease the wheels of a deal. The early signs are that this deal is a real go-er.
