Tottenham have deployed their scouts to keep close tabs on Valencia’s on-loan midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia, according to a report.
Sky Sports claims that Spurs’ recruitment experts are in the process of jetting out on a transfer mission to watch Kondogbia, 24, with a view to him being a long-term replacement for Mousa Dembele.
It is understood that Kondogbia is about to enter the final 18 months of his deal with Inter Milan.
The France international left the San Siro for Valencia in the summer on a loan deal and has so far been in stunning form in La Liga, making 12 appearances and scoring three goals.
The midfield colossus, who stands at 6ft 2 and is known for his commanding physical presence, arrived at Inter for a stunning £30million in 2015 after rising to fame at Monaco.
However he was deemed as surplus to requirements by manager Luciano Spalletti since arriving in the summer, who decided to ship him out on loan to Valencia.
Football Insider Verdict
Tottenham could do a lot worse than Kondogbia. His performances this season has been a large factor in what is seeing Valencia currently battle away with Barcelona at the top of the La Liga table. He is tall, physical and also very skillful and could be a brilliant replacement for Dembele, who has shown signs that injuries are starting to get the better of him as of late. Mauricio Pochettino may not be able to buy Kondogbia in January due to his loan agreement but scouting him now with the view to a swoop next summer is certainly a good operation by Spurs. Inter Milan may also be willing to sell if Spalletti is still not a fan.
