'Please let Arsene Wenger stay' – Tottenham senior figure trolls Arsenal fans hilariously

By Matt Bullin

Tottenham legend Graham Roberts believes there has been a shift in North London and Arsenal will not finish above Spurs for several years.

He also joked that it would be ‘fantastic’ if Arsene Wenger stays at Arsenal and that he has seen the club’s decline coming.

Roberts made over 200 appearances for Tottenham in the 1980s and won two FA Cups and one UEFA Cup during his time at the club.

Speaking in The Mirror, Roberts said: “I think it is going to take three or four years now before [Arsenal] get anywhere near to finishing above us again.

“Our manager and our chairman (Daniel Levy) will improve the squad every year. They won’t be like Arsenal and buy mediocre midfielders and centre-halves.”

Roberts is now a club ambassador for Tottenham and he said of Arsenal’s decline: “I think it has been coming for years.

“What I want to say to them is: Please let Arsene Wenger stay. It would be fantastic if he stays.”

If Spurs can finish above the Gunners this season it will be the first time they have done so in 20 years.

Tottenham are enjoying a successful season under Mauricio Pochettino and currently sit second in the league, seven points behind Chelsea, with seven games to go.

However a Champions League spot looks all but confirmed for Spurs, who are seven points clear of Manchester City in fourth.

Next up for Roberts’ former club is a lunchtime clash with Bournemouth on Saturday and Pochettino and his side will hope to pile pressure on Chelsea by closing the gap at the top to four points – for one day at least.

Chelsea play big rivals Man United in the Sunday afternoon kick-off.
