Tottenham line up new attacker deal amid late Jan interest - reports

Mauricio Pochettino is a huge fan of Erik Lamela and Tottenham will not let the winger leave in January amid interest, according to a report.
Football.London report that Pochettino is delighted to have Lamela fit again after his long spell on the sidelines and that the club having no intention of letting the 25-year-old leave.
The same report reveals that Lamela is set to be offered a new contract in the summer as his current deal is set to expire in 2019.
The Independent previously reported that the Saints had enquired about whether a deal could be done for the 25-year-old and the newspaper suggested if Lamela was to leave, it would be on loan.
However, Football.London’s report now reveals that Pochettino is just easing Lamela back into first-team football after his thigh injury kept him out for over a year, which is the reason why he hasn’t been a regular started.
The winger who can play on either flank as well as be used as a secondary striker, has made 12 appearances across all competitions for Tottenham this season.
Football Insider Verdict
This is excellent news for Tottenham fans, as Lamela has bags of ability. The 25-year-old has shown glimpses of what he is capable of this season, but it’s understandably taking him time to get back to his best. A loan move to Southampton would have been ideal if Pochettino wasn’t going to use him regularly, but this report suggests he could be playing more games in the near future. The versatile winger is more than capable of being Tottenham’s greatest creative threat when firing on all cylinders, and he’s worth the wait if it takes him a little while to get back to where he was.
