Tottenham expect big things from Yves Bissouma this season and have no plans to sell him this month, sources have told Football Insider.

The 27-year-old has courted controversy after posting a video of himself on social media which showed him inhaling laughing gas from a balloon.

Possession of laughing gas for recreational use has been a criminal offence in the United Kingdom since 2023 and can result in a two-year prison sentence.

The player subsequently released a statement apologising for his conduct and said it "was a severe lack of judgement."

Spurs have no plans to freeze out the central midfielder, who they see as a key player under Ange Postacoglu

Sources have told Football Insider that he is set for a regular starting role in the upcoming campaign.

Bissouma is seen as the perfect midfielder for Postacoglu's high-intensity style of football with his strong ability to win back the ball and recycle possession quickly.

Yves Bissouma will be a key player for Tottenham this season

The Mali international has made 56 appearances for Spurs since moving from Brighton in 2022 but is yet to score a goal for the north London club.

Bissouma played 28 games last season, starting and finishing each one and ending the season with an impressive 65 per cent tackle-win ratio.

The midfielder was preferred over the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who has now departed the club for French side Marseille on an initial loan with a buy option.

Spurs have yet to make a senior midfielder signing this summer but have just completed the marquee signing of Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth for £65 million.
